The online gambling supplier giant said the long-time executive has been appointed to its board with a view of succeeding Brian Mattingley as non-executive chair.

It comes at a time of flux for the business, which is transitioning towards becoming a focused B2B supplier following the pending sale of its Italian omnichannel unit Snaitech.

Gleasure said: “I am delighted to be ing Playtech at such a pivotal moment in its history. Playtech is a unique and highly innovative business, underpinned by market-leading technology and relationships with the world’s leading gambling operators.

“I’m excited about the opportunities ahead, and I look forward to working with everyone at Playtech to drive forward its strategy and create further value for our shareholders.”

The business outlined Gleasure will assume the role following its annual general meeting in May 2025, which is when Mattingley will step down from both the chairman role and board in general.

Gleasure has 30 years’ experience across the sports, media and technology sectors, Playtech outlined, as well as a trusted board member across a range of international companies.

Playtech new chair long-time sports media executive

He currently serves as a non-executive director at DAZN Group, where he has worked in a variety of roles since 2016.

In addition, he is a non-executive director, and until recently executive chairman, at digital publisher The Sporting News.

This followed a long-time career that saw him co-found Perform, which he led in a variety of executives roles before and after its 2011 listing.

Gleasure also previously held leadership roles at Sky Sports, Hutchinson 3G and Sony Pictures.

Mattingley added: “We are very pleased to welcome John to our board as a new non-executive director and chairman elect.

“John’s significant experience and knowledge will be a tremendous asset for Playtech as it continues its transformation into a predominantly pure-play B2B business. I look forward to giving him every during this period of transition.”
