The news comes in the wake of Playtech’s over executive bonus payouts.
Mattingley said: “It has been an absolute privilege to serve as chair of Playtech and to help steward the company through an important phase of growth and transition. I am proud of the milestones we have achieved as Playtech prepares to embark on a new chapter as a predominantly pure-play B2B business.
“It is with that in mind that I feel now is the right time to step down. I would like to thank my fellow board , the leadership team and, above all, the wider Playtech family for their ion and commitment.”
Mattingley exits Playtech after nearly four years
The news marks the end of the executive’s almost four years with the group since he was first appointed to the chairman role in 2021.
Playtech argued that this has coincided with a significant period of financial performance and strategic progress.
This, it highlighted, included the revised strategic agreement with Caliplay agreed this year, and the completion of the Snaitech deal, which with result in Playtech’s transformation into a pure-play B2B business.
The Snaitech sale came after the company’s planned £2.7bn sale to Australian slots giant Aristocrat was scuppered by a group of Asia-based shareholders in 2022.Mor Weizer, Playtech CEO, added: “Brian has been an outstanding chair, offering invaluable guidance, constructive challenge and unwavering dedication to the team during a time of significant transformation at Playtech.
“We have benefitted enormously from his strong relationships across the industry, and his depth of knowledge and experience. His presence on the Board will be greatly missed, and we wish him the very best.”
Mattingley’s exit comes alongside wide-ranging changes to the structure of Playtech’s board, beginning from 1 March 2025.
This will include the merging of the Regulatory & Compliance and the Sustainability & Public Policy Committees to provide combined oversight.
The merged committee will be known as the Sustainability & Compliance Committee and will be chaired by Linda Marston-Weston, with Ian Penrose and Samy Reeb as ordinary .
Marston-Weston will also serve as a member of the Nomination Committee from that date.
Samy Reeb will also assume the role of chair of the Remuneration Committee from 1 March, replacing Anna Massion.
